Volunteer Orientations (one hour) are tentatively planned for - Tuesday night, August 10, 2010 at 6:00 p.m., - Wednesday night, August 11, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. and - Thursday night, August 12, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. These orientations will be held in the JC Penney staff lunchroom, near the beauty shop lower entrance. If you wish to volunteer, attendance at ONE of these orientations is mandatory.
KidSpree is a subcommittee of the Jackson County Community Services Consortium. As a subcommittee, we are required to pay for insurance and have background checks for all our volunteers. We are sure that many of you already volunteer for other programs helping children and understand that we must make sure the children we serve are safe. It is also a safeguard for you as a volunteer.
National criminal history checks on our volunteers cost $5.95 per volunteer and will be performed through IntelliCorp, which is used nationally for criminal records checks by the Girls Scouts of America. It is our standard that your criminal check will be in effect for 3 years.
RETURNING VOLUNTEERS WHO WERE CRIM CHECKED WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS, JUST NEED TO INDICATE WHEN ON THE VOLUNTEER APPLICATION. WE WILL INDICATE ON THE APPLICATION IF A CRIMINAL CHECK IS DUE. MANY OF OUR PAST VOLUNTEERS ARE DUE TO RENEW THIS YEAR.
