On April 6, 2011, S.I. River Valley held our annual Awards luncheon. On that day, we honored the winners of our Woman's Opportunity Award and our Violet Richardson Award. We also presented a $1500 cash award to Pam Green, to be used for RCC's Moving On Program, one of our favorite Programs. Later in the year, we will also award scholarships to RCC students through their Foundation. See below for last year's winners.

Awarded to a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17 who makes the world a better place through volunteer efforts, especially those that benefit women and girls.

Jessica Glossup
Jessica is a North Valley High Senior. She wants to be a pediatrician and plans to attend Oregon State University in the Fall. She is President of the Interact Club at North Valley and has initiated an Aid to Haiti program which raised over $1200 to send as financial aid, as well as clothing. For the past three years, Jessica has volunteered at Three Rivers Hospital, in the Surgery Department. She is a top student and works in the Student Counseling Department at North Valley.

#2 Women's Opportunity Award
The Women’s Opportunity Award is a cash grant awarded to a woman who provides the primary source of financial support for their family (head of household status), who is seeking to improve her economic status by gaining additional skills, training or education through an accredited learning center. CHRISTA BROWN
Christa will graduate from RCC in June with a 4.0 GPA and an AA degree in Psychology and an AGS degree in Criminal Studies. She is part of the Moving On Program at RCC. She is a single mom with a 7 year old daughter, Cassidy. Christa family lives in Michigan and she hopes to be able to attend the University of Michigan in the Fall to finish her 4-year degree.She works part-time at a Federal Work Study program. Christa's career goal is to work in the Psychology field, aiding victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other violent crimes. She is also Secretary of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at RCC

Awarded to a high school senior who has demonstrated through volunteerism that they can make a difference in their community.
